Het TOi is een professioneel Openbaar Vervoer Forum in Noorwegen, waarin verschillende openbaar vervoeraanbieders verzameld zijn. Van 20-23 september waren ze op studietrip naar Nederland om verschillende OV-systemen te bekijken, onder meer de RandstadRail, en om meer te weten te komen over het Spoorbeeld.
Op dinsdag 22 september kwam de groep bij ons bureau langs. Spoorbouwmeester Bert Dirrix gaf een onderhoudende lezing over het Spoorbeeld en vertelde dat wij, als Bureau Spoorbouwmeester, vanuit een onafhankelijke positie alle betrokken stimuleren om tot integrale oplossingen te komen en relaties te leggen tussen de verschillende schaalniveaus en disciplines. Ook vertelde hij over de totstandkoming en de voortgang van de 6 's, en het feit dat in de afgelopen jaren vrijwel ieder groot station in Nederland op de schop is gegaan, maar dat nu de voltooiing van dit type opgave met een dergelijke schaal en omvang nadert.

The Institute of Transport Economics (Transportøkonomisk institutt, TØI) is a national institution for transport research and development. The Institute was set up in 1958, firstly as a Government secretariat and later (from 1964) as a separate research institution under the auspices of the Royal Norwegian Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (NTNF, now merged into the Research Council of Norway). In 1986 the Institute became a private, independent research foundation. The Institute receives its annual base funding from the Research Council of Norway.
The main objectives of the Institute are to carry out applied research on issues connected with transport and to promote the application of research results by advising the authorities, the transport industry and the public at large. Its sphere of activity includes most of the current major issues in road, rail, sea and air transport. The Institute is also involved in international cooperation within the transport sector.
